Practical tips when booking your holiday!

The clocks have changed, and the nights are lighter and brighter, there is a definite spring in our step!

Holidays are in our minds, booking that break with friends, family or partner brings an excitement of getting away on the next adventure!
There are incredible deals out there to be had – airlines are cutting prices on flights and sales on overseas package holidays at this time of year are better than ever.  If you are yet to book your holiday, there really is no better time than now.

Unbeatable prices and the best availability, strike while the iron is hot!

Here are some practical tips when booking your holiday this year.

  1. Plan plan plan
Book early. The earlier you book in the season the better the availability and the better the price.  Airlines and holiday companies’ prices are on demand, so as the places fill, so the price will go up!  Try to book as early as you can to benefit from the many sales that are out there to entice you!
  2. Research
Spend a little time researching various destinations, whilst you might save on travel, the local prices once you land could be a different story.  Try getting a price for locally owned accommodation and look out for the smaller more intimate eateries that serve regional  and seasonal specialties, often at a much better price. Think about pre-booking any excursions, events or sightseeing to avoid long queues and higher pricing on the day.  It is worth spending a little time researching and planning some of the day trips to ensure availability and to understand and plan logistics, especially when demand is high.
  1. Check and check againBe sure to check your passport and any visa requirements. Rules are changing, and your passport now must be valid for 3 months after your planned return date.  It also must be valid and issued after 2018 to cover exactly 10 years of validity.  You can read more about this here. If your passport has expired, expect at least 3 weeks to renew a passport from the UK. If you are short on time, there are options.  You may be able to book an emergency appointment online at your nearest passport office. They offer a 1-day Premium Service and a 1-week fast track service which helps you and can be booked here: Passport Renewal
  2. Smart Travel
Packing is an art – be sure to pack appropriate wear for various destinations and terrains.  Check the weather forecast and consider changes or back up items to keep you warm and dry.  Think about currency and adapters, think about any protective creams (suncream) and medicines that might be necessary and don’t forget to weigh your luggage so that it adheres to airline policy – this can be a real pain when you arrive at the airport.
  3. Airport Planning
Book your airport parking as soon as you book your holiday.  Airport Parking is priced in the same way, on demand – so the sooner you book, the more you will save. There are several airport parking options depending on the time you have, the type of luggage and the number of people in your party.
